At our last team meeting we were told that ITEC went to 25 countries in 2017 and did a total of 29 training courses, most of them involving multi-module simultaneous training from our growing number of training programs.

It is that time of year again when we make our “New Year’s Resolutions.“ I heard on the radio that about 80 percent of New Year’s resolutions are abandoned by the middle of January. On the other hand, I also recently heard that 85 percent of statistics are just made up.

I did make one New Year’s resolution 44 years ago that I have now kept for 2/3 of my life. I fully intend to continue keeping it because the results have changed my life. That may sound like quite a resolution, which it is. I should explain. I married Virginia Olson the evening of December 31 in 1973. Anyone who knows Ginny knows that I would have to be out of my mind not to continue loving and cherishing her.

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions?

I suggest an alternative to new resolutions. MOTS (More Of The Same). Instead of making New Years Resolutions, we could spend this year steadying ourselves in a way that follows Biblical instruction and that would please God. Then, when next year comes, we can simply resolve to do More Of The Same.

I memorized James 1:2-12 as a boy. James tells Christ-followers not to try to squirm out of our difficulties because they build our endurance. He finishes in verse 12 saying, “God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12 NLT) I think this passage calls us to carefully resolve to live by Biblical instruction and then steadily persevere in it.

ITEC 2018 Plan

I am pleased to tell you that the ITEC team is planning for MOTS in 2018. At our last team meeting we were told that ITEC went to 25 countries in 2017 and did a total of 29 training courses, most of them involving multi-module simultaneous training from our growing number of training programs: I-DENT, I-MED, I-SEEI-FIX, I-FLY, and I-FILM. We are also researching a possible trauma counseling module for the huge and growing refugee communities around the world.

We also had many speaking opportunities in several countries. Our team made 95 individual trips covering 854,000 airline miles in 2017 often followed by additional travel in cars, buses, bush planes and even canoes. ITEC trainers passed the baton of powerful “Door Openers to Christ’s Gospel” to 245 Indigenous Christ Followers. ITEC is in the trainer training business.

Thank you for being a part of the ITEC support team as we continue to train and equip indigenous Christ-followers and develop new tools that open doors to share the Gospel.
