Steve is loaning out his Piper PA-14

Marvin Horst (on right) made the arrangements to fly the PA-14 (56-Henry) to Pennsylvania to display it at the Smoketown Mission Aviation event scheduled in August. During the event, they plan to demonstrate the bucket drop and drop parachutes from the chute-shoot. After the event, the plane will winter in Pennsylvania, undergoing some repair work and have its annual maintenance inspection. Then, it is expected to be a main feature at the summer 2009 Oshkosh, Wisconsin Fly-in.

Tim Burdett has joined I-Tec for the remainder of the summer. Tim is a third year student from Letourneau University. Majoring in mechanical engineering, he is working alongside his classmate, veteran intern Jonathan Nelson. Pictured Above, Tim and Jonathan are installing a foot controlled emergency brake system they designed for the Maverick

Steve purchased the Piper in 2003, bringing it back to Florida and spending many months making it airworthy and modifying it to look like his dad’s old mission plane. Since then, he has flown it throughout the United States, to South America, and to Panama where he flew it in the Feature Film, The End of the Spear. For anyone unfamiliar with the story how this plane got Steve’s dad’s N-number, Steve re-tells it in his book, Walking His Trail. 56-Henry is probably the world’s most well-known Piper Airplane.

     Our guest book

Last month, I-Tec had visitors from Virginia, Germany, Pennsylvania, & FL.

We are attempting to find 56-Henry a permanent home; someplace where it will see more flying time, & have the capacity to make an impact on a larger amount of people. Help us pray for God’s direction.

The development stage for I-Tec’s Trailblazer Dental Chair is over. Mark and Gene are now gearing up for the production stage. Trailblazers are inexpensive, ultra light-weight dental chairs made on site at I-Tec. One purpose for this line of chair is for Christian dentists to use when training groups of indigenous Christian students in their own countries. Our PDS will surly continue to be the most popular design, but there is definitely a need for this new chair.

I-Tec: First Skype Conference

This   month,   Steve   held   a   video teleconference call with an enthusiastic group of students via the computer internet. Though the California school is 2000 miles away, Steve didn’t have to pack a single bag, check his luggage, or worry about getting jet lag. We hope to make many more computer-to-computer conference calls in the future.

I-Dent: Trailblazer Complete

Volunteer Andy Heckman shows Gene how to weld aluminum. Andy is a certified aluminum welder and licensed handyman who lives locally. He has been working many hours in our shop during the last month. Steve Ott generously donated a TIG welder which Gene and Andy are using to weld aluminum Trailblazer and Maverick parts.

In the picture, Steve is holding two phones. During the last portion of the call, the students took turns asking him questions. They could not be heard from their seats, so the school used their 2nd phone line to call our 2nd phone line. Steve ended up speaking over one line and listening to student’s asking the questions on the other.
