     Off the Ground for the First Time!

The Maverick came back to Florida, freshly powder-coated and ready to begin the airborne testing phase. On Saturday, April 22nd, the Maverick flew its maiden flight! Both Steve and Troy flew it on short straight test flights which verified the craft’s balance and stability.

Dr. Chip Parker is a Doctor of Optometry and is on the board of Directors at I-Tec. He and Steve have begun I-Tec’s newest   mission project, I-See. The goal of I-See is to train national believers to diagnose basic optical needs and to dispense eyeglasses in their local area. The I-Tec team is working on the curriculum and will be ordering 10,000 pairs of eye glasses. The students (all believers) are carefully selected by their local churches.

     Journey into the Amazon

Professional photojournalist Dianne Becker produced and edited this new video, Journey into the Amazon, which shows Steve Saint leading a group of North Americans deep into Ecuador’s Amazon Rainforest. The group consists of family members and close friends of the five missionaries who were speared to death by the very people they are going to visit. For many, this was the first meeting between them and the people who had killed their loved ones. Dianne notes that it may be the first reality show where no one gets voted out of the tribe.

The video is available through I-Tec, $13.50 postage paid

Jay Dyck, master engineer and chief designer for the Maverick’s chassis, raises the mast during reassembly after its trip back fromNewton, Kansas. Jay has invested many hours making and modifying the Maverick.

         Our guest book

This month, I-Tec had visitors from Texas,Georgia, Pennsylvania, California, Wisconsin, Missouri, Ecuador, Austraila, Holland & Florida.

As we start on the first stages of testing (thrust tests, stress tests, and flight tests) we remind ourselves that we don’t even have a standard with which to compare our findings. We’re in uncharted territory.

   Parting thought

Risk more than others think is safe;

Care more than others think is wise;
Dream more than others think is practical;

Expect more than others think is possible.
