The   I-Tec “Flyer”

Newsletter For FEB 2008

The new year is well underway. We have been busy developing several new projects. Jesse Saint is back in Ecuador assembling airplanes with the South American crew.

mission Projects
Think-tank workshop during I-Tec had an I-Med the third week of January.
Pictured (from left) are Ian Crozier (a doctor from Nashville, TN), our Steve & Ginny, and Drs. Evan & Heather Bensler (both physicians from Alberta, Canada).

Steve continues to frame and develop the I-Med training modules. The modules will train people in specific areas of health care.

SPARC has started gearing up:       SPARC (Supplying Power Alternatives for Remote Communities) is aLeTourneau University project sponsored by missions organizations HCJB and ITEC to design and construct a simple, low-cost micro hydropower solution to supply electricity in remote areas near streams or rivers. Such a device could be used to power clinics, micro-industries, radio repeaters; in general, virtually any mission operation that requires electricity near a moving body of water. Hydropower makes an excellent choice because of its relative lack of complexity in comparison with fuel, solar, or wind generators, but a viable solution must be able to output steady power in varying water conditions as well as offer the ability to be ported easily from one place to another by manpower alone.

LeTourneau University student Jonathan Nelson was an intern here at I-Tec last summer. During his stay, he was a valuable contributor in the development of the Maverick’s mast system. Jonathan is making arrangements to return to I-Tec again this summer. He will continue his work on the Maverick’s mast system as well as work on the SPARC project.

See the I-Tec website for more information about the project.

Jesse Zamora, has started training on I-Tec’s Mac computer. Jesse is coming to I-Tec one day a week to learn a two-dimensional animation software program. He will assist I-Tec with 2D graphics used in the I-Med training modules. (and, for the record, I-Tec now has three people named Jesse.)

Pray for the mPower dental training crew. Dr. Charlie Vittitow will lead 8 team members to Jos, Nigeria on February 25. They plan to have 8 dental chairs in the field and train 16 students. Physician Ian Crozier is also going and providing his medical talent.

On Saturday, January 19, I-Tec’s

Ron Lytle walked his daughter Emily down the isle.
