I-Med

Dr. Evan working on I-Med
The I-Med (Indigenous Medical Training) system is an intensive, highly focused, medical training program designed to make it possible for indigenous, non-health care workers to learn to offer safe and effective basic health care services to their own people when such health care is not available through government or non-government organizations.

Currently, the I-Med system is still in development. Dr. Evan Bensler is in charge of developing the different I-Med modules. The Anatomy, Physical Exam, Hygiene, and Medicine Delivery modules are nearing completion.

Pedro Huancollo is a graphic artist who lives in Arequipa, Peru, and creates animations and illustrations for I-Med under Dr. Bensler's supervision. I-Tec sent a Mac computer with the neccesary programs to Peru in order for Pedro to develop the I-Med animations.

Ecuador I-Med Traning Missions Trip

At I-Tec's March 2009 Ecuador missions trip, Dr. Evan Bensler and Steve Saint trained students in basic medical skills and discussed common medical ailments. During the clinics the students were able to share the purpose of the outreach, and gain some experience taking a brief history and checking patients' vital signs prior to them going on for dental care.
